training for Fishmongers and Chefs:
These
include free introductory workshops, low cost foundation certificates,
sponsored events, seafood masterclasses, quality assessment of seafood,
knife skills training, and independent and multiple seafood retailers
training packages. All profits from commercial courses fund
free courses for young people.

"One of the main aims of the Seafood School is to encourage
young people and those wanting to change career to consider the
Seafood Industry. Since the School was established in 2000 we
have have focused on developing our schools programmes to promote
seafood together with benchmarking industry-wide training. To
cater for our wide client base we offer both selection of scheduled
events and tailored programmes, designed specifically to individual
clients needs."

are also now starting to offer Seafood
Masterclases particularly aimed at Chefs, such as our Knife
Skills Masterclass and our Sushi and Sashimi Masterclass. Over

free introductory events include 'Get
into Fishmongering!' and 'Get
into Fish frying!'
We
have recently produced an Introduction
to Fishmongering developed in conjunction with the
Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish),
course dates and more information here.
We
offer opening learning work books (for distance learning) for
easy access to Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
(CIEH) Level 2 Certifcates in Food Safety and Health and Safety
certificates. The work books are completed in the candidates
own time and require approximately six hours to complete. Once
completed a multiple choice exam needs to be sat here at the Billingsgate.
The cost of these packages is £50 plus £5 p&p
if they are not collected from the market. This price includes
registration, the work book, one exam and certificate on passing
the exam, contact us here.
Our
Quality Assessment of Seafood courses are designed for
environmental health officers and technical managers within seafood
companies, they focus on fish and shellfish. The delivery team
includes experts from Billingsgate, Fishmongers' Company, Seafish
and the Shellfish Association of Great Britain. The days delivers
7.5 hours certificated CPD. More
